Monstera Deliciosa — Water Propagation

The plain green species, and the one we recommend anyone start with. Ours is still juvenile — the leaves are solid hearts with no fenestrations yet, which is simply what a young Monstera looks like. The holes come with age and light, not with care tricks.

It’s rooting in water on a windowsill, where you can watch the roots develop through the glass. That visibility is the whole reason we propagate this one in a jar rather than in soil.

Not rare, not expensive, and that’s the point. Everything we know about propagating the variegated forms was learned on this plant first — including the failure that started all of this.
